Project description.

From their office in the heart of The Hague, Web Whales forms a team of specialists with a passion for technology. As a development agency, they work daily on the digital success of their partners. I designed and developed a completely new website for Web Whales. After the design was approved through a design process, I started building a custom WordPress website.

Development.

The design has been accurately converted from Sketch to a custom WordPress theme with SVGs and icon fonts where possible for their crisp, clean look and fast loading speed. Thanks to the customisation, the management environment is extremely flexible and the landing pages can be easily configured with components.

Custom post types.

The website has a module for displaying reviews, cases, team members, vacancies and the ‘Changelog’ with which a collection of all striking, important or funny events within the company are collected. The modules can link via the back-end, for example you have a review that is linked to a case. This means you only have to adjust the part from one place.

Filter system + team feature.

For the cases, an overview has been developed with a custom filter system in which the cases are loaded via AJAX through load more pagination. On the team page a nice feature has been built with which you can find out all kinds of fun facts about the team using through a slot machine.

Optimizations.

During development task runners are used with Gulp.js to compile all SASS and JavaScript to minified and combined scripts.  This ensures that a minimum number of requests is maintained, which greatly benefits the speed. Since the website has been developed responsive and “mobile first”, the site works optimally on every device and can also be viewed for every device and potential customer.
