Caravan and motorhome rental with reservation.

Project description.

Since 1975, Bruggink has been a thriving caravan and motorhome company with only enthusiastic and committed employees. Both in Borculo and Almelo, a team of experts works in the field of sales, rental, installation of accessories and maintenance of caravans and motorhomes. Through their rental site it is possible to rent caravans and campers, this website was not well maintained for a long time and had an outdated and slow reservation system that ran on PHP5. The system was not supported well enough to run on PHP7, so it could not be installed, which can impede the performance and security of the website. At the request of Hoog Design I was allowed to develop a completely new and customized website in the same look as their current site but in a brand new theme with a completely new reservation system with extra features and support for PHP7.

Search with filters & alternative options.

Via the website you can pick a date with a calendar and then have an overview of the available caravans and campers. Here you can filter on seats, sleeping places and daily price. In case there are few to no caravans or motorhomes available on the picked date, we have developed a clever extra feature that also allows motorhomes and caravans available on close dates to be shown as options in a secluded place to also notify the user of alternative options.

Extra info + reservation.

Within the overview you can find extra details of the car by expanding the information tab. As an extra feature we have developed an availability calendar in which you can browse through a calendar to check availability on other dates. This gives the user some extra overview and he can pick his desired date faster. After you have selected a car, you can click further to make a reservation and then fill in a form, here we have also added the option to subscribe to the newsletter. If you have reserved the car, the user will receive a confirmation and the car will be reserved in the back-end. The user receives a confirmation email with a link with which he can find his reservation online on a separate page with the corresponding details.

Management.

The entire reservation system can be managed via the back-end and the motorhomes and caravans can be easily configured and dynamic prices can be set based on season or specific dates. You can also adjust the availability of the campers and caravans and set them  inactive on on specific dates.

Availability calendar.

Finally, we have developed an extensive availability overview as an extra feature that gives you a complete annual overview of the availability of all campers and caravans (see last screenshot below). Here you can easily pin your date and reserve.

Optimizations.

During development, all script libraries are managed via Node.JS/NPM, so that the latest version can always be easily deployed (think of Bootstrap, Fontawesome etc.) and task runners are used with Gulp.js to compile all SASS and JavaScript to minified and combined scripts. In addition, the scripts ensure that images are lazyloaded and where possible scripts are loaded in the footer. This ensures that a minimum number of requests is maintained, which greatly benefits the speed. Since the website has been developed responsive and “mobile first”, the site works optimally on every device and can also be viewed for every device and potential customer.
