Building a digital beer menu with 100+ beer choices.

Project description.

Biercafé De Loco is a café in Bergen op Zoom that offers over 100 types of beer. Due to the many types it took a lot of effort to make changes to the beer menu. De Werkkamer created a special design for this as solution, with which the beer menu can be experienced digitally. For this I was assigned to take care of the technical realisation. The website serves as a digital beer menu that you can experience on a mobile device to view it remotely or make an order from the cafe. This allows you to easily choose your beer in which you can choose from more than 100 different types of beer.

Development.

In the menu you can sort by tap beer, type, taste, alcohol percentage and you can open a popup for the beer of the month and the beers in action. For the tasty appetite you can also click through to the Flammkuchen card via the menu. For beer lovers, a link with untappd has also been added so that you can keep track of the beers you have tasted at Biercafé De Loco. All beers and the menu are easy to manage via the back-end, making changes much smoother. Finally, the blog post type of WordPress is formatted to a news overview and you can also reach the cafe with the contact form.

Optimizations.

During development, all script libraries are managed via Node.JS/NPM, so that the latest version can always be easily deployed and task runners are used with Gulp.js to compile all SASS and JavaScript to minified and combined scripts. In addition, the scripts ensure that images are lazyloaded and where possible scripts are loaded in the footer. This ensures that a minimum number of requests is maintained, which greatly benefits the speed. The website has been fully tested on the most popular mobile devices and can be experienced by every user.
