The front runner in the art of demolition.

Project description.

Since 1946, Bork Group has been working for large and small clients throughout the Netherlands with a motivated team with which they can do any demolition job from A to Z. From demolition, recycling, asbestos and fire damage restoration to dust free remodel demolition: safety, quality, environment and a personal relationship with the customer are paramount in all cases. The website was due for renewal, for which a completely new website design has been delivered by Team Koen for Bork Group with numerous wireframes for which I got the confidence and assignment from Team Koen to take care of the technical realization and to carefully convert this into a custom WordPress site.

Development.

The elements within the new Bork website were certainly not standard. For example, certain elements such as the banner and the four-panel section have a certain shape with skewy roundings. These elements are formed in the HTML/SASS code using covered SVG shapes. This ensures a sharp and clean appearance and the images can be flexibly changed via the back-end. All sections and parts of the design have been converted to individual modular components, enabling easy landing pages to be set up using a custom builder in ACF. For example, the customer can select which elements he wants to use per page and the code of the components in ACF are fixed in the theme so that it is easy for developers to make global adjustments by adjusting the component. The website also contains various modules to place certain projects and vacancies that have been set up by Custom Post Types where the templates have been customised and configuration settings have been added.

Optimizations.

During development, all script libraries are managed via Node.JS/NPM, so that the latest version can always be easily deployed (think of Bootstrap, Fontawesome etc.) and task runners are used with Gulp.js to compile all SASS and JavaScript to minified and combined scripts. In addition, the scripts ensure that images are lazyloaded and where possible scripts are loaded in the footer. This ensures that a minimum number of requests is maintained, which greatly benefits the speed. Since the website has been developed responsive and “mobile first”, the site works optimally on every device and can also be viewed for every device and potential customer.
